However, mobile devices still face severe constraints that limit the possibilities that a mobile route finding application may offer. In this paper, we present a device independent mobile application that enables mobile users to receive route directions to their handheld device. This application is an extension to an existing mobile map delivery system, the m-CHARTIS system. We focus on the main features and we analyse the device independent character of the application. Implementation details are presented and finally directions for future work are proposed.},
